Charles's Story
Hi People,
Been a long time since back then, when R&B was screaming over the airwaves, and our stereos were turned up in our cars. 57 chevy's were common place, and 65 and 66 Super Sports and GTO's were the thing! Big hair was in, Cruisers and Surfers were friends and drove similar cars. Having one girl was what it was all about, and if you strayed, everybody knew! Alcohol was our kick, and maybe a little grass, surely even maybe a downer and an upper, but cocaine?, that was for the rich Hollywood entertainment sect, and never anything like heroine unless you were a bad guy! We had a few of them too! Whatever happened to them? Probably what usually happens to bad guys! (Jerry put them in jail!)
(thanks Jerry). Vietnam was always on our minds, many of us went and not all of us came back, but for those of us who did, we never forgot those who didn't! Many of us got married right away after school, and most of probably got divorced before 27! Most of us now have grown kids and some not so grown, most of us are remarried after being single during the 70's and 80's. I'm sure we all vote...Expand for more
, right, left, center, who cares? As long as we vote! Now as we approach our 60's we somehow refuse to see ourselves as our parents when they were 60. Our 60 is their 40! We look better, feel better and are better! Most of us will get to 90, most of our parents only made it to the 70's. Is there such a thing as a 60 year reunion? We'll all be a little grody by then, maybe even shorter, but we'll still be the same! Diggin Otis Redding, James Brown, The Beatles, The Stones, Jim Morrison, etc. Ha, little did our children know! Little do we want them to know! Some things will always be the same, even if gasoline is not! The memories will always be there, even if things have changed, to us Mac's and Mr. G's is still there as it was in memories, even if it isn't as it was. But for those of you who are reading this, I congratulate you on getting to this age, we all know it hasn't been easy! But we're here!, and it's been a wild and fun ride, even though some of us don't think so! It is what you make it, and we've made it this far, congratulations! Hope to see ya - Chas.
